About the consortium

The Be-Prepared (Behavioural Science for Pandemic Preparedness) consortium is a collaboration of researchers from the RadboudUMC, the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), Trimbos Institute, the University of Twente, the University of Utrecht, the University of Amsterdam, Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, Erasmus MC, the Pandemic and Disaster Preparedness Center, Maastricht University, Universiteit Leiden, Amsterdam UMC, UMC Utrecht, and Pharos. Be-Prepared aims to provide in-depth analyses of mixed-method behavioural science data collected throughout the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic and inform preparedness strategies for future outbreaks. In approaching the research from a behavioural and social science perspective, researchers focus on four main themes:

  • Prevention behaviour, psychosocial and contextual determinants, and (communication) interventions
  • Resilience and engagement of citizens, communities and organisations
  • Research methodology and preparedness
  • Effective and integrated policy advice

A harmonized presentation of results and insights will inform the direction of future action in response to global crises – equipping the Netherlands to BePrepared.
